The NBA Signed a 76 Billion with B TV deal this past summer for 11 years with ESPN/ABC , NBC/Peacock and Amazon. Which avgs 7.6 billion a year. This is the second Most lucrative TV deal in North America Sports history. The Number of viewers is still higher than 1.6 million a game, but With mainly a cable TV pay audience comparing them to the NFL is Not the same as they are on broadcast tv, Which is free to watch on America.
With 32 million less people even able to watch The NBA has maintained the same level Of viewers while keeping Cable TV necessary as a pillar of programming along other live sports like the CFP, ESPN Early coverage of Wimbledon.
So do they have a problem yes and it is their customers willingness to pay for cable who pays them for their product
As they move to Amazon Streaming and Peacock exclusive games. We see how 1.6 mill translates to increased Subs for those platforms.
But make no mistake about it The NBA is fine and their only concern currently is the negative coverage of their league as a whole from the media who push the NFL as they need them to drive ratings. Before the Super Bowl era (Pre – 1963), black QBs faced significant obstacles and discrimination. Teams often avoided selecting black QBs in the draft, and those who did make it to the NFL were often relegated to playing other positions. However, this began to change in the 1960s and 1970s, as pioneers like Marlin Briscoe, James Harris, and Joe Gilliam broke down barriers and paved the way for future generations of black QBs.
In the Super Bowl era, black QBs have won the game’s most valuable player (MVP) award five times, including Doug Williams of the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl XXII, Steve McNair of the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV, Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX, and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. These players have shown that black QBs can lead their teams to victory and excel at the highest level of competition.
One of the most memorable Super Bowl performances by a black QB was Doug Williams’ performance in Super Bowl XXII. Williams became the first black QB to start and win a Super Bowl, and he did so in impressive fashion. He threw for a Super Bowl-record 340 yards and four touchdowns, earning MVP honors in the process. Williams’ performance was a seminal moment in NFL history, and it helped to break down barriers and dispel the myth that black QBs could not perform at the highest level.
Another memorable performance by a black QB was Steve McNair’s in Super Bowl XXXIV. McNair led the Tennessee Titans to within one yard of a game-winning touchdown, despite being hampered by a serious injury. He completed 22 of 36 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns, and his gutsy performance helped to further cement his reputation as one of the NFL’s top QBs.
Donovan McNabb’s performance in Super Bowl XXXIX was another standout performance by a black QB. McNabb led the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl appearance in 24 years, and he threw for 357 yards and three touchdowns in the game. Although the Eagles fell short against the New England Patriots, McNabb’s performance was widely praised, and it helped to further validate his status as one of the NFL’s top QBs.
Finally, Patrick Mahomes’ performance in Super Bowl LIV was one of the most impressive by a black QB. Mahomes threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns, and he also rushed for 29 yards and another touchdown. His performance helped to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years, and it earned him MVP honors for the game.
In conclusion, black QBs have overcome significant challenges and discrimination to achieve success in the NFL and the Super Bowl. From Doug Williams to Patrick Mahomes, these players have shown that black QBs can perform at the highest level and lead their teams to victory. Their performances have inspired future generations of black QBs and helped to break down barriers and dispel myths about their abilities.
