I went down on friday to hang out, drink, and play cards. So I get to the “showboat hotel and casino.” As the dealers at all the table games will say repeatedly with a grin on their faces ( I wonder what the inside joke is). I started out with 100 in $5 chips (nickles) and $ 20 in $1 chips (white). So I’m just to the left of the button and 6 people before me to act have all called a raise to $17 and this is a $1-$2 no limit hold’em table.

So there is $102 in the pot before is gets to me and just on pot odds alone I call with 9 of hearts and 8 of clubs. The button folds and small blind calls and then the big blind all-in for another $80. So most people would fold not the maniacs at my table we all had little more gamble in us and all seven people call and the pot is $793 pre-flop. The flop (the first three cards) comes 9-8-3 I have top two pair and one person bets $50 and I move all-in for my remaining  $187 and get two callers the turn comes a 2 and then the river comes a 9 giving me the nuts and full boat (two pair with three of a kind) and thus winning a little over$1,080 dollars on one hand and i left with $970. Just goes to show you that even unsuited connectors like 9-8 or  5-6 or J-10 can be a money hand even at the small stakes; and the person who went all-in pre flop had pocket twos and he hit  set on the turn and thought he won when the 9 came on the river, but over looked that some one might have 9-8.

Also of note I got to see jamie foxx do his radio show from right in front of the poker room in that back stage area and I also saw Erica Badu and she is as fine as advertised.
